Agency Director

Our client, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ or the “Department” or the “Agency”) is seeking an experienced environmental leader to serve as the Agency Director. DEQ is a state agency responsible for safeguarding the quality of Oregon's air, water and land in order to protect public health and the environment.  DEQ is committed to building a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce which reflects the population of and addresses the needs of all Oregon residents.

DEQ is headquartered in Portland with regional offices around the State. The Agency Director leads a team of administrators and managers engaged in innovative, cutting-edge environmental initiatives, including climate protection, environmental justice, and sustainability. The Director works closely with the Environmental Quality Commission (EQC), five citizen volunteers who oversee the Agency and who make major policy decisions including agency rules and the agency’s proposed budget. With the help of the DEQ Leadership Team and a Deputy Director, the Director develops Agency recommendations to the Commission, and then works to implement commission, legislative and the Governor’s direction in agency operations.

Chief Financial Officer

Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Public Markets

We are proud to partner with our client, the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS or the “System”) in seeking a Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Public Markets.  KPERS provides retirement benefits for approximately 327,000 members. At the close of Fiscal Year 2022, the System held assets under management in excess of $24.3B.

KPERS is headquartered in Topeka, KS and is within easy commuting distance to Lawrence KS, home of the University of Kansas, and to the western suburbs of Kansas City.

The Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Public Markets reports directly to the Chief Investment Officer. The Deputy Chief Investment Officer Public Markets serves in a senior leadership role and oversees management of the System’s public market asset classes. The System’s public market portfolios includes equity, core fixed income, yield driven, cash equivalents, inflation linked bond and overlay strategies. The Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Public Markets provides expert analysis, commentary, and recommendations to the Chief Investment Officer on the overall direction of the System’s public market asset classes and portfolios, including portfolio structure and investment mandates. These assets represent approximately 75% of the System’s target allocation for the total portfolio.

The System is looking for candidates who have eight or more years of relevant experience in the field of investments, portfolio management, or external investment manager oversight for a pension plan, endowment, foundation, or similar institutional investor. An undergraduate degree and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation are also required.

KPERS offers compensation that includes a competitive base salary and incentive bonus that may represent a meaningful addition to base salary. Benefits include a generous time off package that includes paid holidays, sick and parental leave, and vacation leave based on years of equivalent professional experience.  KPERS also offers a hybrid work schedule with the option to work from home two days per week.

Director of Human Resources

Our client, the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC or “the Auraria Campus”) is seeking a Director of Human ResourcesAHEC is a dynamic and vibrant higher education community located in the heart of downtown Denver. The 150-acre campus is shared by three separate and distinct institutions of higher learning: Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and University of Colorado Denver. AHEC is a separate state entity whose role is to provide and manage shared services, facilities, and property to support these prominent institutions in achieving their goals. General Manager

We are pleased to assist our client, the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions (LAFPP or “Fund”) in finding their next General Manager. LAFPP was established by the City of Los Angeles in 1899 and operates under the provisions of the City Charter and Administrative Code. LAFPP is a single employer public employee retirement system whose main function is to provide retirement benefits to the safety members employed by the City. The Fund serves over 26,000 active and retired police officers, firefighters, harbor and airport police, and their beneficiaries. With approximately $30 billion in assets under management, the pension fund is 96.8% funded.

The General Manager serves as the chief administrative officer of the Fund. Under the direction of the Board of Commissioners, the General Manager directs the daily internal operations and benefits administration of LAFPP. The General Manager will be responsible for leadership, administration, and management of LAFPP with Board delegation of authority. The General Manager will oversee an operating budget of approximately $1.7 billion and a total staff complement of 128.
